Essence Festival 2017 on Radio Row!

Blingy Greetings,

I had such an amazing time covering the Essence Festival this year! It was my first time going and definitely not the last. I experienced the Essence Festival on the media side where I was interviewing all of the talent and entertainers who were apart of the event for the weekend. Below are some of the people who I had the chance to either interview or just get a photo op with because we ran out of time to interview due to it being super busy on radio row. Blingy LUV to my team Nicole of GraphixSpot and Clinique... you are such a blessing and an angel... the Thelma to my Louise....

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 4, 2017

Actress T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh to Serve as Artist-in-Residence at FAMU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – This fall, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) theatre students will have the unique opportunity to train with one of the institution’s most accomplished alumni in Hollywood.

T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh, internationally acclaimed and award-winning performer, director, writer and producer, will become FAMU’s first W.K. Kellogg Foundation Artist-in-Residence in the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities (CSSAH) theatre program.
Keymáh, who has returned to the University on several occasions and is also the namesake of an endowed scholarship, views the position as an opportunity to pay it forward.

“I can’t miss this opportunity,” she said. “I can’t forget what it’s like being on the other side. I can’t forget being that student wishing that somebody I knew from television or film would come and visit me. I come back and perform because I loved when people came to my school and performed,” Keymáh said.

After first gaining national fame as a regular cast member on the comedy show “In Living Color,” Keymáh also gained notoriety for her role as Erica Lucas on the CBS sitcom “Cosby” and as Tanya Baxter on the Disney Channel sitcom “That’s So Raven.” She recently completed the first season of her newest series, “There's Johnny,” a comedy produced for NBC's digital platform, Seeso, in which she plays Johnny Carson's secretary Roz.

Keymáh earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre from FAMU in 1984 and received an honorary doctorate from FAMU in 2011. She wants to share the wisdom she has gained over the years with her students.

“I intend to bring my experience as a series regular on six on-camera series to the classroom, in addition to what I learned on and off the set,” Keymáh said.

Valencia Matthews, Ph.D., CSSAH dean, believes having Keymáh as the theatre program's first Artist-in-Residence is significant and underscores her willingness to give back to the program and the University in general.

“The fact that T’Keyah loves and supports FAMU and the Essential Theatre has been demonstrated consistently, and in many ways, over the past 30 years.  She inspires loyalty, so it was an easy decision to select her as the first Kellogg Artist-in-Residence for the Essential Theatre,” Matthews said.

Matthews believes having Keymáh on campus for an extended period and the overall Artist-in-Residence program will leave a meaningful and lasting impression on FAMU students.

“It is an exciting opportunity to have an individual of T’Keyah’s prestige to share her professional experiences with our students. It also leaves a lasting impression for them to see our alums return to the very place where their training began. We look forward to having her as an addition to our theatre faculty for the next several months,” Matthews said.

In addition to teaching an acting for the camera class, Keymáh will also conduct three workshops and will direct “The Nacirema Society” by Pearl Cleage, which will be the first play in the Essential Theatre’s 2017-2018 season.

Ultimately, Keymáh said she believes historically Black colleges and universities should be at the forefront of what Black theatre is, and she hopes to help raise the bar during her time as an instructor.

“As people of color in an industry where people of color are horrendously underrepresented, we have to be the standard-bearers,” she said.

Future plans for the Kellogg Artist-in-Residence Program include an annual rotation between the theatre and music programs respectively.

"Next year the music department will have the opportunity to select an artist of its choice to enhance programming in that area,” Matthews said.

Funding from the Kellogg Foundation plays a critical role in FAMU’s performing arts programs. In 1993, a grant from the foundation attracted top-notch theatre faculty and staff such as Matthews, Luther D. Wells and Carey B. Robinson. It also led to the establishment of an Eminent Scholar Chair and now Artist-in-Residence Program to be shared between theatre and music.

The program provides the opportunity for the Essential Theatre and Department of Music to foster intellectual, creative and professional growth among artists, students, faculty and staff.

11/12/2016

Blingy Greetings,

If you know me... Shavonne P Owens aka Konfident Miss Bling... You know I love me some Mary J. Blige! The creation of my entertainment report, "The Blingy 411" was inspired my girl MJB!
So, we know about her going through her divorce with Kendu. Everyone was saying, "Awwww mannnn! You know Mary is about to come out with a fire album!" LOL! True enough, she came through for the nation with her new single, "Thick of it"! Mary didn't come to play, she came to slay! Ok? LOL

BlingItOrStingIt?

I say BLING IT BABY!!!! I Blingy LUV this song!!!!!

This room was full of melanin from her brown and even skin tone to the bronzed mirrored room she shot this video in with that blingtastic gold top she was wearing. Also, MJB represented for NY with her Yankees snapback as she showed her amazing figure and she "flickbanged" her blonde "Ike Turner bob" which was superfly!!!! The room was shimmery gold and she made sure she included her classic dance moves as she did shimmy or 10 across the room a few times throughout the video!

#Blingy411- Did you know?

Did you know that Jazmine SUllivan wrote this song? Yes! She penned "Thick Of It" and as of today it became Mary's fifth No. 1 on the Adult R&B songs (Billboard)! Mary's album  Strength of A woman will debut later this year! "Thick of it" is the warm up anthem for the album to get us prepared for what she will deliver on these tracks for 2016-17.

Mary J. Blige's 'Thick of It' Has Fastest Climb to No. 1 in Over 20 Years on Adult R&B Songs.

Congratulations Mary! It's another moment in time where she has broken a record in music literally! Check the video out below for yourself and comment your blingy thoughts on this song!

Blingy Greetings,

People have been asking me, "Miss Bling or Blingy, what is BlingVember?" BlingVember is actually November in Bling's world! Blingvember is considered my official month to go into Blingy Hibernation Mode which I start fading to Black... or should I say fading to Bling after my Blingy Birthday! Yes, it's about that time y'all! I'll be on the scene at a minimum, but still keeping up updated on what's going on through my reliable sources from across the nation!

I'm sitting in the HBO Headquarters... Home Blingy Office thinking about a lot of things! How can I switch this up? When should I do this or that? Who would I add to the Bling Team this or next year? What would be the new addition to my brand? Well, I have a lot going on and I was reminded that anythings in the arts helps to relax me. Writing, Painting, Recording my vocals, Interviewing amazing people and singing are some of my favorite things to do. I will be writing more often. The original Bling Radio Show blog from 2008 was full of excitement! I was traveling and writing reviews about everything I've experience in the entertainment world.

Today, it hit me! My re-vision for the blingtastic blog is so clear! No schedule! No limits! No genre! Just pure uncut blogging and vlogging! Are you ready???...  If you are not ready, I'm giving you a heads up! I will start writing between once a week to once a day. It's a lot that goes on in my day that I can share with you! The year is almost over and the end of the fourth quarter is near... What are your plans for 2017? Have you even started to plan for 2017 yet? I have some amazing things in store! I'll keep you posted! Have a Blingtastic week!

Bling Radio show Relocates to Georgia!

Blingy Greetings,

Yes its true! I followed my heart and soul in which I relocated back to Georgia! Yes I said back to Georgia because I lived here before in 2012-2013.

Blingy Timeline...
I have been doing interviews since 2005. Bling Radio was birthed in the Hip-Hop Studios of Illinois Center for Broadcasting and we converted the show to Blogtalkradio.com in September of 2007.

Blingy Updates...
I know for sure that I will not be on air 3-5 days a week due to school and work, but I will be keeping you in the know with whats going on in media and entertainment even if its not live and just a pre-recorded show.  I will keep you posted with the times and dates on social media!

The Blingtastic Return...
The entire time I was gone from here I kept thinking about how I wanted to be back in Atlanta because I declared that this was my second home. In my mind, I was trying to create a blueprint on how I would get back there. I relocated for a job and started my own gospel radio show in Huntsville, Alabama. After being there for 2 years and things were starting to digress,  I knew for certain that my time was up in Alabama. I was planning my exit and my grand entrance back to Georgia.

I started traveling to multiple cities to film my TV show and the plans I originally had mapped out started to shift. One thing didn't change and that was me moving back to Georgia. I didn't know exactly where I was going to be, but after traveling and visiting my loved ones in the Midwest, I finally headed back to Atlanta in July...

Blingy Motivation 103....
For an entire year kept pre-scheduling for Bling Radio to start airing again in my mind, but it was so much going on that I couldn't get it done. I knew when I got back to my second home that I was going to return to my first love and doing what I love to do the most, Bling The Airwaves. I got back to hosting shows on my Blingy Birthday, October 3rd (Blingy Motivation 103) and my Blingtastic guest for the day was Nicole "Hoopz" Alexander!

Blingspiration...
Follow your dreams! When you are passionate about something that you love, you cant go a day without thinking about it. Your heart and soul knows what it craves. Never give up NO MATTER WHAT! Thank you for following the blingtastic journey as I continue to do what I love and make BLINGSTORY!!!!

Blingy Luv,
